August has officially arrived. And now it is time for me to keep you up to date on happenings and events within this month in regards to your greater development. To sum it up in one word "Motion". Yes, you are indeed finding a whole new found freedom wherein you are doing everything you can to walk/crawl/jump and otherwise move around in order to explore everything. You have discovered a new game which you quite enjoy playing with yourself. In this game you grab a ball, any ball seems to work fine for you, wiffle ball, mini basket ball, mini football, full size foot ball, mini dodge ball, tennis ball, the cat's ball essentially any ball that finds itself within range of your tiny fingers. After having acquired said ball you will toss it, at which point you will chase it down, pick it up, and toss it again. Exceedingly amusing to your mother and I in that you are technically playing fetch with yourself. At first we had a slight thought that this sight was a little bit pathetic in nature that you should not be resorting to playing fetch with yourself, however as we attempted on numerous occasions to join in this sport along with you we would find that it only tended to frustrate and irritate you. You truly seem to believe that this should remain as a solo sport, and well it gives you great amounts of exercise so to that end we are delighted.
You absolutely love animals at this point. You will chase down cats and dogs alike to give them a simple pat and when they attempt to lick your face you smile begins to glow. This week we took you to the Berkeley county fair just outside Martinsburg West Virginia where you were able to see all sorts of animals including cows, sheep, ducks, goats, chickens, rabbits, and pigs. This adventure was quite the delight to you although our first run through you slept the entire time, however after you had indulged yourself with a hearty nap we returned to the fairgrounds at which time you received a proper introduction to all of the various livestock.
This summer you have found a special fondness for various new foods such as chunks of watermelon, cantaloupe, pulled pork, and most especially the cheesy covered butterfly potatoes from the fairgrounds.
We just renewed the domain hietts.info for the low price of $8.11 from our sponsor website Richmond Daddy and the renewal is good for a year. Your mother and I concur that this is a fantastic deal considering that entry to this blog with this domain is easily found at jacob.hietts.info as opposed to just using the link to my blog account. It also includes several additional features such as email accounts that we can all utilize, the ability to include a subdomain for your younger brothers name when he arrives, and several other great things.
I also finalized my schedule for the upcoming semester in college and I am looking at being able to graduate this coming spring. Having children and being in skool presents several financial obstacles nonetheless we continue to keep moving forward to a brighter future. At some point it will all pay off for the greater good and your mother and I will most likely begin registering the hietts.info domain in 10 year stents to secure ownership of it for our family for several decades to come.
And on the subject of the hietts.info domain It is my great pleasure to announce that as of August 21st I discovered that this domain has achieved an Alexa rating making it actually quite valuable. For that fact especially I will be including a rating and value widget within this posting just below.

July Update
July is a fantastic summer month. It contains both Independence Day and 31 sweltering hot days filled with sunshine. This specific July also included for you time spent in the small kiddie pool filled with water over at your Grandma Pearl's house. Wherein you found your efforts equally as enjoyable splashing the water as it was spending your time pulling up blades of grass which rested just outside the edge of the pool. After getting several blades of grass clinging to your wet hands you would find that a simple quick splashes would quickly rid your hands of the dangling blades just in time for you to reach over and pull up some more. This practice continued until the bright crisp blue water gathered a sudden blended shade of green.
We also received first images of your little brother AIden, whose name, I have decided will always be spelled with a capital I in effort to give his name a slight tribute to my Grandfather, Larry Whitacre. His middle name being Alden. You will note the slight resemblance that AIden spelled with a capital "I" and Alden spelled with a lowercase "L" actually present the onlooker with. Your extremely witty Great-Grandfather made mention of this remarkable irony to me over the phone one day at which point I felt this tribute to him would be delightfully perfect to account for his limitless supply of comedic relief for any situation.
I was also able to schedule all of my classes for this upcomming fall semester where I will continue to push forward to the soon realization of having a degree. Also, with it a much brighter future for yourselves, your mother, and I. It has been quite a struggle so far and I certainly do not expect anything less for the coming months but in the end it will have all been well worth it. Working now to find any little 100 or 500 dollar scholarship I can acquire to help fill about a $4,000 slack we have in our annual budget this year. My efforts are therefore increasingly intense upon finding any side job or part time work I can scrounge as well.
Regardless, my web development website, Richmond Daddy, continues to increase in traffic and popularity so it is with great optimistic view of the future that I say this budget issue is a slight set back in the now that will ultimately realize itself in a much more secure time yet to be.
This has been your father's take on the world of parenthood for this month. Join us again in August for a look at the struggles of getting a 3 foot tall young man to walk.

June Update
I have made it a monthly habit of mine to introduce to you via this web blog, an image through detailed wording of life as it is through my perspective as it pertains to your growth and development, and also as it pertains to our family unit as a whole. I would like to take this opportunity and speak to you a moment also, in a lesson of discipline as well. As it is that I have made it my monthly habit of mine to speak to you on this level, it is a most appropriate forum for I, your father, to speak to you about discipline. I hope you are willing to hear my words with an open admiration for learning.
To keep ones self-discipline at peak performance is always a true yielding fruit of prudence. This is a message that wisdom tells us often. Even small displays of discipline can encourage growth of newer and much more abounding ones. The manner in which you keep yourself as an individual will always speak volumes as to the type of character you have. It is always in your best interest to manage the way in which you conduct yourself in public with great care.
As for discipline and the fruits it also yields, we begin to understand better accountability and trustworthiness. This two things follow us in increase as we continue to maintain our level of self discipline. We can notice affirmation of these things through the actions of others as they more easily entrust us with items or tasks. Discipline can take many forms and the effects of it vary as greatly.
I love your mother so much little boy! And oh how exciting it is knowing that we will be soon welcoming your adorable little sibling into the world as well!

May Update
May Update
May is always a beautiful time of year. All fears of the last frost have subsided and large scale garden planting can begin in most regions of America during this part of the year. The leaves of the trees have all pretty much exposed themselves for a summer filled with sun ray soaking. Green bright imagery of life abounds all around you. I have always enjoyed especially this time of year and throughout the summer months.
Your spry spirit and vigorous will to stand and make progress towards walking keeps me continually awe stricken young man. Also, the effort you have been contributing towards your ability to grasp greater control of your vocal skills has been quite a delight to your mother and I.
Furthermore, I would like to send out a special shout out to this father that shows us a great example of the simple truth that fathers posses super powers!
I have finished my college final exams and so I will now have the summer free from study and school work. Although a bit of attention will be put into further establishing web development clients, I certainly will be taking full advantage of the additional time we have together to just concentrate on ourselves. I sincerely feel that a fishing trip may soon be in order as a family get out. It's the time of year again to bring out the grill and have a good ole' feast on fish fillets.
Your great grandparents Larry and Judy Whitacre blessed us with a fantastic visit this month which was a great way to begin our May with a visit from loved ones. As a result of the natural tendency grandparents have to spoil their young grand kids you have acquired your first tricycle. It is a little Radio Flyer Trike. Now I sincerely feel compelled to tell you just how fantastic this product from Radio Flyer really is. It is their model for 2-4 years and has a small storage compartment in the rear. It is super easy to assemble out of the box equipped only with a phillips screw driver. The design is also cleverly devised so that this product is clearly built with durability in mind. I can see this little Radio Flyer trike being made good use of by many young children to come.
About food. Your father would easily be happy if you were to remain eating puree sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes forever, because I frequently find myself in a whirlwind of panic as I replay in my mind the heimlich maneuver course I took some years ago and remind myself that taking a refresher course would be a great idea, every single time I watch you eating anything larger than a gold fish cracker. This is not because I doubt your ability to conquer those big beef burritos, but instead it is because I am a father, and never in my life have I ever experienced such a love for anyone the way I have found it to be in you. Nonetheless, by this point you are actually able to eat beef jerky like a champion, which seeing you with that typically hasn't bothered me. You have really always done very well with all foods, chicken nuggets, fish sticks. I couldn't get you to eat cottage cheese with me but maybe that is something you will like better when your a little older. I noticed you are not to particularly found of the mashed potatoes either though so I am kind of wondering if this denotes that your just not enthused by the visual aesthetics of white mushy foods. If I am not mistaken this is totally your mom's fault because she would only eat brown carbohydrates when she was pregnant with you causing you to have a white food intolerance.
I told her this would happen, but clearly she did not think it would.
LOL. I Love you Rachel Hiett!

April Showers
April Monthly Installment:
April showers bring the May flowers, and the May flowers bring the pilgrims. Haha, just starting off on a light note there for you! So, for this year 2013 Easter Sunday fell on March 31st. April 1st being on Monday, and that is no fools joke. Of course we can not forget that during this month on the third day is some special little man's birthday. So your very first of an annual tradition that will be celebrated as a way of celebrating you, and your life and purpose in this world. Yes, son, you truly are a special little man.
Here is a video which does well to show your progress to date with your mastery of standing unsupported. Now that you are toddling around we shall classify you as a toddler, making you no longer an infant but not quite a full grown man.
Your father lovingly created a blog to keep account of various things you may find interesting or important at a later time in life. In only your first year of life this blog has yielded some fascinatingly impressive results. People have viewed your blog from United States, Russia, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Romania, China, Spain, South Korea, and Sweden. I listed the countries in order of most visits from that country. Sweden being the lowest with only four views having originated from that country to date. We can understand that naturally United States should be highest on the list because your family and friends keep an eye on the blog on a regular basis and all being from the US. But the fact that makes this most interesting to me is the fact that there are multitudes of people from no less than ten countries who know your story, your name, and the like my son. So one result from me keeping this blog for you is that in your very first year of life you officially became a “World Renowned Kiddo.” As of the date of your first birthday, April, 3rd 2013, your blog has had well over 2,500 visits. This is an impressive feat for someone your age!
Also this month, your father's continuing education (final exams for the end of the month)
this will mark the start of a skool free summer semester that I will be able to enjoy with you and your mother!
Furthermore, we have found out this month that we are pregnant! Again :-D So be ready for a little sister or brother Jacob. I suppose the manner of this blog will begin to take a form that is for the benefit of you and all of your future siblings. For this reason the usage of the word "kids" as a directive will likely greatly increase as the usage of the words "my son" decreases some as it may no longer serve as the proper directive term in many cases. It is an exciting feeling all over again. We will keep you updated as we learn more and as the pregnancy continues to grow and flourish towards that November 5th due date we initially received.

March Update
March Edition:
Apparently March came in like a lion this year. Let me bring you up to date with a few highlights.
You, your mother, and I now live in a nice little apartment on the south side of Richmond. Your mother and I have plans to be staying here for the next couple of years as I finish my classes at John Tyler and then move on to Virginia State University (VSU). Your mother continues to work her job diligently as she is feeding the hungry people in the Richmond area. Also, Your Aunt Jada has announced to us that she will be getting married to Charlie Bennett.
We did the Verizon Fios thing for television. Well I can tell you, this whole concept of children's television has metamorphisized in such a wonderful way in only a few short years. I could tell you stories of people telling me stories of when they were a child how they remember the town's first television. This tells you that the technology has in a recent past not known itself to be so standard. Even when I was a child there were a few major broadcasters but they each held to a single channel. When I became a teenager the satellite televison brought about a time where more than one channel of the same broadcaster. So like we had Disney which is one of the major pioneers of children's television. We had Nickeloden, which I can tell you detailed stories about as I had the great honor of visiting their studios located in Florida. Well, Just to keep a long story about Fios short, allow me to say, Nick jr., Disney jr, and a few shows on other channels are now providing such fantastic children's television that I actually feel comfortable with my child being in front of a television. And I know that so many generations of parents have been against this in the past. However, we now have LCD technology which puts to rest all of the concerns of radiation from the old Cathode Ray Tube(CRT) television, thank you Marie Currie for that one.
So, you have this thing that you do, when I hand you a sippy cup you grab it by both handles and start drinking it. Afterwards you begin to realize that you are standing there with both hands on the sippy cup and no hand holding on to anything else, this cues you to then squat and sit down. It really is so adorable.
Also in March:
As the end of this month draws near a close so begins the preparations for your birthday celebration. You will be turning 1 year old on the third day of next month. Congratulations little man, your father has managed to keep you alive! Apparently I have done something correctly as a parent so far. The bummer part to the whole celebration planning is that you do have a doctors appointment for that morning of April 3rd. During this appointment you will be receiving your 1 year vaccine shots. Sorry, it worked out for you that way, but on the plus side of this you will get an update of your weight for your birthday. Don't fear, your mother and I have something pretty cool planned for you for this year.

And of course, when it comes in like a lion it always goes out like a lamb, this month we call March. This particular March went out like a lamb, in that it was white like one. Yes ladies and gentlemen, with only one week remaining in March it snowed in RVA.
