It is at Times Rather Scary

There may very well come a point in your life when you come to me and ask about the general experiences of being a parent. I would imagine this line of inquiry would occur around about the time you are on your 9 month wait for a little child of your own. In which case I am going to explain to you all of the marvelous features of being a parent. How parenting teaches you to love in ways that you had never before thought possible, how parenting makes you able to do things you would normally never be able to do and to be able to do it without the slightest hint of being bothered by it. I also, will likely interject a little bit of comic relief for you in a warning regarding your child's first few poops. I will tell you how being a father makes you feel so on top of the world that at times it seems as though nothing can get you down or slow you.
It is, at times, rather scary though. As I sit here watching you handle little bites of food and putting them to your mouth as you begin to chew them up with your gums and your two and a half teeth, I think to myself, wow this little guy sure is growing up quickly. It is scary to me to think that in just a flash of time you will be heading off to college, driving a car, starting your first job, having your first kid. The very idea of you not being right here where I can keep a steady watch on your activities is scary.
This encourages me to be certain that I equip you in every way with the ability to make good sound decisions in your life. The fact that I will not be able to hold your hand through every situation in your life makes me evaluate what I can do to insure that you are able to always create for yourself fantastic opportunity. It also, causes me to realize how important it is for me to teach you how to put all of your faith and trust into God the creator of the entire universe. It is the single most important thing in life to love the Lord with all of your heart, soul, body, and mind.
You are starting to stand and walk about without the assistance of holding on to something. This in itself is scary because you will quickly be running around, falling down, getting into things, etc. Oh, the great extra measures your mother and I will be in need of taking in order to insure you do not get into anything harmful to you.
Parenthood is by far the greatest experience that has ever occurred in my entire lifetime, and yet at moments as I see my little child getting bigger, accomplishing more, and becoming independent, it honestly scares me. Makes me proud! Creates within me a fantastic feeling of love.

Apparent Adventures

No one ever said that parenting would be easy. In fact, many kind persons with previous experience in the subject matter will be more than willing to offer you several examples of why this simply is not the case. When you begin to include the dynamics of an individual situation these difficulties begin to grow in exponential form. For example with our scenario in the magnificent world of parenting adventure, the mother goes out working nights to create a steady flow of income for the family. This is followed up by the father's contributions of fiscal help which are not so steady as they come in only every few months or so, but they are substantial giving substance for a longer duration. Dad stays home with the kiddo while mom is out earning a weekly pay with the exception of Tuesdays which is the one day that dad goes to school, attends classes, and attempts to keep all of his weekly class work up to date as he attends a full time college schedule by taking mostly online classes. All printing, library research, and lectures are scheduled out for Tuesdays alone.
Except for this week! With the absolute greatest of intentions the mother offers to work this Tuesday to help the boss out, and this would help earn her extra hours which would then translate into the family living in a slightly more comfortable setting for a couple weeks time. I admire her for her willingness to contribute so much and to take on this extra for the cause of the family. This does however, present me with a slight bit of a problem. Well, the grandmother steps in like an absolute champion, prepared with full armor and sword in hand like a knight riding on the strong white steed, which happens to be a green Honda Civic. A Babysitter! Ah yes, but so much more than that, an academic lifesaver to boot.
I suppose what I am really trying to say here is that no man is an island. Even more the case when a strongly tied family endures the struggles of daily living in such a harmonic form. Apparently parenting is not always easy. Although, it has become apparent that the extreme situations brought about by parenting also bring out a little something else also. Sometimes a little something else in others. It is always a great thing to embark on the great adventure that is the story for many a parent. It is also good to sometimes share this extreme adventure with others. Great men often stand on the shoulders of giants and giants often have great kids standing on their shoulders!

On a side note! Completely unrelated! I have created a tool bar. This tool bar has a very simple function which enables the user who has downloaded and installed it to be able to search through the Hiett family archives with much grace and ease. It is essentially a search bar that you can type in someone's birth date, death date, name, or something like that into and it will search through the Hiett archives only as opposed to the entire world of information such as bing and google do. This in essence makes it much simpler to find specific information related to individuals or situations directly related to the Hiett family. I hope friends and family members take the time to download and install this useful tool and I hope it serves great purpose in allowing them to stay more closely connected with relevant information about the family and to family photos as well.
